Ten Years
Updated
On: Jul 14, 2010 (09:41:00)
Time sure flies when you are having fun. It is hard to believe that ten years has passed since the career officers, engineers and firefighters of the late, great Country Club Hills Fire Protection District chose to re affiliate with the IAFF. Even though the district employees had no collective bargaining rights at the time it was decided to re join the union. It turned out to be the right move to make. Shortly after the members met to organize with the AFFI Vice-President At Large Rick Merrill, the district handed the reins of the department to the City of Country Club Hills. It hasn't been the easiest of rides but nothing worth something comes easy. Local 2720 has enjoyed some real success and here is a special thank-you to those current and former members who had the courage to stand up and say that we will fight for our futures.

The Members of Local 2720 extended our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Homewood Firefighter Brian Carey. Brother Carey was killed in the line of duty while battling a house fire on the evening of March 30th. We would ask that you keep the responding firefighters and paramedics in your thoughts and prayers. This terrible tragedy has effected many departments. We would also like to extend best wishes and prayers to the sister firefighter who was injured and is hospitalized with burn injuries.

The members of Local 2720 would like to extend a hearty congratulations to our own Hillcrest Hawks on their exciting win against Peoria Richwoods High School for the State 3A Boys Basketball Championship. With the boys taking first and the girls placing second in the state just two weeks ago, Country Club Hills is the basketball capital of the entire Chicago area. Way to go Hawks. Your Union Firefighters are proud of you !

Updated
On: Mar 07, 2010 (09:19:00)
The members of Local 2720 would like to thank all of our family, friends, Union Brothers and Sisters and supporters for a fantastic evening at our fundraiser. It was a great event and a good time was had by all. Special mention must be made to Sister Dena Lewis and Sister Michelle Hullinger for all the hard work and time they spent in the organizing of this event. Local 2720 truly appreciates the support we received from AFFI First District Vice-President Danny Fortuna and AFFI Northern District Legislative Rep. Eddy Crews to help make our 7th annual event, one of the best ever. We also would like to thank The Band of Brothers Pipes and Drums and Friday At Five for all the great music. Special thanks to master sound technician Steve Vick for his great work on the board. Once again, we truly thank all of you for your continued support, friendship and solidarity.
