Local 2720 wishes 32 year veteran Deputy Chief Don Johnson a very happy retirement. DJ stepped up to fill the DC position and remained a strong advocate for the fire department. Don also stayed in the union after his appointment to deputy. We are going to miss seeing Don everyday but are very happy he is remaining as pension board president. Best of luck to you Don!

On: Dec 23, 2010 (08:51:13)
The entire membership of Local 2720 would like to offer sincere condolences to the family, friends and fellow firefighters and paramedics of the Chicago Fire Department and Local 2 on the loss of Brothers Stringer and Ankum. We also wish a speedy recovery to all of those who were injured at this terrible fire. A firefighter understands the dangers of our chosen profession, but this does not lessen the grief we all hold in our hearts when something like this occurs. Rest in Peace Brothers. Your sacrifices will not be forgotten. May your families find some solace during what is supposed to be a joyous time of year.
